December 5th, 1980: John talks to Jonathon Cott about life and death.
JOHN: Our outlook is: be yourself, use your full potential, don’t believe anybody that says you’re no good. You can really do what you want. We’re all infinite, and we have infinite possibilities. Give peace a chance. Remember love. Get it together, come together, do everything together, but you must be yourself first. Don’t compromise. Be yourself, and nature will provide.
COTT: With the talking, we’ve done a lot on life, lots on different parts of life. How do you feel, how do you think about death? Does it bother you, do you really—?
JOHN: No, I’m looking forward to death. Death is a rebirth. And I’m looking forward to it as much I suppose as I looked forward to being born. You know, you might have a few physical pains as you pass over, maybe not. But I’m looking forward to it. I don’t want to be killed. I’m looking forward to a natural death.
COTT: What about just the prospect of getting old in this life?
JOHN: Uh, I’m looking forward to it. I really will enjoy being old, because you do have the experience, and if you use it wisely you can help the young. And as long as you don’t get too narrow, you know. We both have visions of a quaint little cottage by the seashore, and us looking at all our old movies and saying, “Remember?” and the world will be peaceful. And if the world isn’t peaceful when we die, this world peace isn’t a reality when we die, we’ll probably be back to try again. We’ll have to keep doing it until we get it, you know. So we’ll be back. No we won’t be back, ’cause we’re gonna get world peace.
